The short answer

A good website for a tradesman shows what you do and where in the first screen, proves you're good with real job photos and accreditations, and lets a customer send a photo of the job with their enquiry. We build trade websites from £99 a month with local SEO included, and show you yours free before you pay.

(01)What it needs

The features that matter for trades, in order of importance.

What a trade website needs to win work

A quote form that takes photosThe biggest difference

Let customers attach photos of the leak, the roof or the room when they ask for a quote. You can price many jobs from photos, turn away the ones that aren't for you, and arrive with the right materials.

Call and WhatsApp in one tap

Most enquiries come from phones, often from someone standing in front of the problem. Your number and a WhatsApp button stay in reach on every page.

The areas you cover

Towns and postcodes listed plainly, so nobody 30 miles away wastes your time, and so search engines know where you work.

Your accreditations, up front

Scheme memberships, insurance and qualifications you're entitled to show, near the top of the page, with a link where the scheme lets customers check you.

Real jobs, with photos

A gallery of finished work, with the town and a line about each job. It's the page homeowners check before they call.

Reviews you can stand behind

Your Google rating and real reviews, linked to where they came from. Never invented ones: since April 2025 fake reviews have been banned outright in the UK1.

A page for each service

"Kitchen fitting" and "loft conversions" are separate searches. Each gets its own page, with what's involved and roughly what it costs.

(02)A concept homepage

For a fictional builder. Yours is designed around your own business.

What a trade homepage can look like

ConceptA homepage for a fictional builder. The quote form takes photos, and the first screen says what, where and how to get in touch.

(04)Photos that win jobs

Your phone is good enough. These make the difference.

Taking job photos that sell

  1. Before and after from the same spot. Stand in the same place for both, so the change is obvious.
  2. Wipe the lens and tidy up first. A clean site in the photo says you'll leave theirs clean too.
  3. Daylight, with your back to the window. Turn off the flash; switch on the room lights if it's dark.
  4. Hold the phone level. Wonky verticals make good work look crooked.
  5. Show the detail. A close-up of a neat joint, a straight cut or tidy wiring proves craftsmanship better than a wide shot.
  6. Take a few landscape photos too. They fit website galleries better than tall ones.
  7. Ask the customer. A quick "mind if I take a photo for my website?" is courteous, and they usually say yes.

(05)Which builder?

Which website builder is best for tradesmen?

If you want to build your own, Wix and Squarespace are both easy to use and cost about the same2,3. Pick whichever you'll actually keep up to date, and check before you choose that it can take photo uploads on a quote form, look good on a phone, and link to your Google Business Profile.

The builder itself matters less than what goes on it: words written for the jobs you want, real photos, and someone keeping it current. If you'd rather spend your evenings on the tools, that's what our plans are for.

(07)How it works

See your site before you pay

  1. You tell us about your business

A short call or a WhatsApp chat: what you do, where you work, who you want more of.

  2. We build your preview

A real working preview of your website or logo. Free, and no card needed.

  3. You ask for changes

We make a reasonable number of changes until it's right.

  4. You give it the nod. Then you pay.

We launch it and keep improving it every month under your plan.

Questions

(08)Questions

They do different jobs. A directory rents you a profile on its site, alongside your competitors, for as long as you pay. Your own website is yours: it's what your Google Business Profile links to, and it works for you whether or not you renew a membership. Many trades use both.
