SEO for small businesses
SEO is the work that helps your website appear when people search for what you sell. We do it every month, in plain English, and show you what we did and what changed. We never promise rankings.

→The short answer
SEO for small businesses is making your website easy for Google to understand and worth showing: fast, technically sound pages, written for the searches your customers make, with other reputable sites pointing to you. It's included in every Nod & Co plan from £99 a month, with more new work each month on the larger plans.
(01)The three parts
Everything in SEO falls into one of these.
SEO in three parts, for a business owner
TechnicalCan Google read it?
Pages that load fast on phones, can be crawled and indexed, have sensible addresses, titles and structure, and don't trip over errors. Google's own starter guide is a good plain-English overview of the basics1.
ContentDoes it answer the search?
A page for each thing customers search for, written to answer it properly: what it is, what it costs, why you, and what to do next. This is where most small business sites fall short.
AuthorityDo others vouch for you?
Links from other reputable sites, mentions in directories and the press, and, for local businesses, reviews. It's built slowly and honestly; bought links are a risk Google warns against2.
(02)Not a local business?
If you sell across the UK, online or by phone.
SEO for businesses that don't sell locally
Consultants, online services, training providers and anyone selling UK-wide can't rely on Google Maps and "near me" searches. Their customers type the problem or the service, and compare several sites before getting in touch. That changes where the work goes:
- Guides that answer the questions buyers ask before they buy, each aimed at one search.
- Pages that compare options honestly, including when you're not the right choice.
- Prices, or at least how pricing works, so you're not ruled out for being vague.
- Proof: case studies, credentials and specifics, because there's no shop to visit.
- Links from industry publications and associations rather than local directories.
Local businesses should start with local SEO; online shops with e-commerce SEO.

Questions
(06)Questions
Making your website the best answer to the searches your customers make, and making sure Google can tell. It's the difference between a website that exists and one that gets found.
If people search for what you sell, yes, because those visitors are already looking. It's slower than paid ads but keeps working without paying per click. Our SEO cost guide helps you judge what to spend.
Sometimes. If your current site is fast, works well on phones and you can add pages, the work can start there. If not, fixing the site is usually the first job, and our plans include it.
Google's guidance is that what matters is whether content is helpful, reliable and made for people, however it's produced3. Every page we publish for you is written from what you tell us about your business, checked against that standard, and approved by you before it goes live.
