Website redesign
A new website shouldn't cost you the searches your old one already wins. We redesign it, move every page across properly, and show you the new homepage before you pay anything.

→The short answer
A website redesign replaces the look, structure and words of your site while keeping what already works, especially the pages Google ranks. Done properly, every old address is kept or redirected to its closest new page. Ours start at £99 a month with no build fee, and you see your new homepage free before paying.

Signs your website needs a redesign
One or two ticks may only need a refresh. Four or more, and it's usually cheaper in the long run to redesign than to keep patching.
(02)How much change
Not every site needs starting again.
Refresh, redesign or rebuild?
| What changes | Right when | Risk to rankings | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refresh | Colours, fonts, photos, some words | The site works but looks dated | Low: addresses stay the same |
| Redesign | Layout, page structure, most of the words | It no longer explains what you do or turns visitors into enquiries | Medium: some addresses change and need redirecting |
| Rebuild | Everything, including the platform it runs on | It's slow, insecure, or impossible to update | Highest: every address must be mapped and checked |
Most of the sites we take over need a redesign on a new platform. The work below is what keeps that from costing you your search traffic.
(03)Protecting rankings
The part of a redesign most often skipped.
How we keep the searches you already win
Google's own guidance on moving a site is clear: redirect each old address permanently to the most similar new page, not everything to the homepage, and expect rankings to move around for a while as Google recrawls the site before they settle1. Permanent (301) redirects pass the ranking signals of the old page to the new one2. Get the redirects wrong and pages Google already ranks simply disappear.
What we do, in order
- List every address your current site has, from its sitemap, a full crawl and Google Search Console, so nothing is missed.
- Note which pages bring in searches, so they get the most care.
- Map each old address to its new home: kept exactly as it is where we can, redirected to the closest new page where we can't.
- Keep what's working on each page: the subject, the useful words, the search terms it ranks for.
- Test every redirect before launch, so no old link leads to an error page.
- After launch, watch Search Console for missing pages and fix them, and submit the new sitemap to Google and Bing.

A free preview of your redesigned homepage
Before you commit to anything, we redesign your homepage and send it to you on a private link, next to your current one, so you can see the difference on your own phone. Ask for changes until it's right. If you give it the nod, we redesign the rest of the site the same way; if not, you owe nothing.
Your current site stays live, untouched, the whole time. Nothing changes for your customers until the day we launch.

Questions
(07)Questions
It can if pages are moved without redirects, which is the most common cause of traffic loss after a redesign. Done properly, every old address is kept or permanently redirected to its closest new page. Google says rankings may fluctuate while it recrawls a moved site and then settle1.
Yes, and you should. We point your existing domain at the new site on launch day. Your domain stays registered in your name.
Not if it's handled carefully. Email and the website are set up separately on your domain, and we change only the website's settings. It's on our launch checklist, and we test it on the day.
No. We keep what's working, especially on pages that already rank, rewrite what's out of date or unclear, and write new pages where something's missing. You read every page in the preview.
Yes. We rebuild it on our own platform, move your words and photos across, and redirect the old addresses. You then cancel the old builder's subscription once the new site is live.
