Bakery logo design

A bakery's logo goes home with every customer: on the cake box, the paper bag, the sticker that seals it and the label that lists what's inside.

The short answer

A good bakery logo looks as good as the bakes, prints in one colour on a paper bag or a cake box, and leaves room on the label for the ingredients and allergens the law requires. Ours start at £199, and you see the logo on your own boxes, bags and labels before you pay anything.

(02)Boxes and bags

Where a bakery logo spends most of its life.

Boxes, bags and stickers

Bakery packaging, and the version of the logo each one needs
PackagingHow it's usually brandedWhat the logo needs
Paper bagsA rubber stamp or one-colour print on brown or white paperA one-colour version with no fine lines
Cake boxesA sticker on the lid, or a printed box for bigger ordersA round or square version that fits a 4 to 6 cm sticker
Bread bagsA sticker sealing the bagA small mark that still reads on a crinkled surface
Cake boards and toppersA small sticker or a printed topperA tiny version for under the cake, and a decorative one for on top
Market stallA banner or table clothA wide version, readable from the other side of the aisle

(03)Labels and the law

The logo shares the label with information that has to be there.

Leaving room for ingredients and allergens

If you pack bakes on your premises before customers choose them, such as sandwiches, cookies in bags or cakes in boxes on the shelf, the label must show the name of the food and a full ingredients list with the allergens emphasised, for example in bold or capitals. A separate "Contains:" line is not enough on its own1.

That changes how we design your label. The logo goes small, in a corner; the name of the bake is clear; and the ingredients panel has room for a long list in readable type. A label that looks lovely but crams the allergens into tiny print is a label you'll have to throw away.

(04)Home bakers

Starting a cake business from home

Many bakeries start in a home kitchen. Before you start selling, a home food business must register with the local council, at least 28 days before trading begins; registration is free2. The name you register is your trading name, so it's worth settling the name and the logo together, before the stickers and the Instagram account go out with it.

Changing your trading name later means reprinting every label and sticker and renaming every profile. Getting the name right first time saves all of that.

Questions

(07)Questions

No. Pastels are so common for cakes that a deeper colour, like teal, navy or a strong red, often stands out more on a shelf or an Instagram grid. We choose colours that suit your bakes and print well on brown and white paper.
