Plumber logo design
Most plumbers' logos are a blue water drop. Yours has to be remembered by someone with a leak at 7am, and found again on the boiler a year later.

→The short answer
A good plumber logo is simple enough to read on a van at speed, small enough to work on a boiler sticker, and different enough from the blue drops every other plumber uses. Ours start at £199, and you see the logo on your own van, sticker and invoice before you pay anything.
(01)Eight concepts
For fictional plumbing and heating firms. None of them is a blue drop.
Plumber logo ideas

Concept Tidewater PlumbingPlumbing
A tap in a solid disc: unmistakably plumbing, and it still reads when shrunk to a sticker or a social media avatar.

Concept Copperline HeatingHeating engineer
A pipe bend in a shield, in copper on navy, for a firm that wants to look established on a boiler and a van.

Concept Hearth & FlowGas and heating
A square monogram in a warm red, distinct from the blues of the trade, with the work spelled out beside it.

Concept Clearrun DrainageDrains and drainage
Two waves over a rounded name: about flow without a single drop of water in sight.

Concept Swift PlumbingEmergency plumber
A round badge like a call-out sticker, with initials big enough to spot on a fridge door when the leak starts.

Concept Kettering BathroomsBathroom fitter
A calm serif wordmark for a business selling finished rooms, not pipework: at home in a showroom and a brochure.

Concept BoilerwiseBoiler installation
A short coined name set in a sturdy mono type, so it looks precise on a quote, a boiler label and a hi-vis vest.

Concept Warmfloor SystemsUnderfloor heating
The name split over two lines in warm red and amber, so the van says heat before anyone has read a word.
(02)The boiler sticker
The most valuable place your logo will ever go.
The boiler-sticker test
A van is seen for seconds. A sticker on a boiler, a stopcock or the inside of the airing cupboard door is seen every time something goes wrong, for years. When the heating stops in January, the number on that sticker is the one that gets rung, not the one on the first page of Google.
So every plumbing logo we design has to work at sticker size: around 6 to 8 centimetres across, printed in one or two colours on white vinyl, next to the phone number and a line such as "Boiler serviced: write the date here".
What the sticker needs
- The logo, small but still readable at arm's length in a dark cupboard.
- One phone number, set larger than anything else.
- A space to write the date of the last service, so the customer knows when to call you again.
- Your Gas Safe registration number, if you're registered, so the next engineer and the customer can check it.
(03)Gas Safe
Earned, so used carefully.
The Gas Safe logo and your own
If you work on gas, the Gas Safe Register logo does more to win trust than anything in your own logo. Only registered businesses may use it on their vehicles, clothes and promotional materials1, and showing it when you aren't registered is against consumer law, which bans displaying any trust or quality mark without authorisation2. Trading standards single out the Gas Safe logo as one to take particular care with3.
Beside, never inside
Gas Safe's mark sits next to your logo as its own artwork. We never draw a flame, a triangle or anything that could be mistaken for it into your logo.
Their artwork, not a copy
Use the logo files Gas Safe supplies, at the size and spacing its guidelines set. We leave room for it on the van, the sticker and the invoice layout.
Plumbing without gas
If you don't work on gas, leave the mark off entirely. Say clearly what you do instead, such as "Plumbing and drainage, no gas work", so customers aren't left guessing.
(04)Colour
Standing out from the blue drops
Search for plumbers in any UK town and look at the vans: blue, a drop, a tap, maybe a spanner. It's not wrong, but it means a customer can't tell one firm from the next. We'd rather give you one thing that's yours.
| Instead of | Try | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Blue and a water drop | A warm colour such as copper, red or deep green | Easy to spot in a street of blue vans, and it suits heating work |
| A drop, a tap and a spanner together | One symbol, or none | One idea reads at sticker size; three turn to mush |
| A long name with "and Heating Services Ltd" | A short name, with the trade in smaller type | The part people remember is the part they can read from the pavement |
| Clip art from a logo maker | A mark drawn for your name | The same clip art is on thousands of other vans |

Questions
(07)Questions
Your name, set clearly, and at most one symbol. Leave the phone number, the services and the scheme logos out of the logo itself: they go beside it on the van and the sticker, where they can change without redrawing the logo.
Yes, if your business is on the Gas Safe Register, using the artwork Gas Safe supplies and keeping it separate from your own logo. If you're not registered, you can't show it anywhere.
No, and it's often better if it isn't. Blue is so common among plumbers that a warmer colour, used well, makes your van easier to remember. We show you both before you choose.
