Handyman and property maintenance logo design
A handyman does a hundred different jobs. The logo can only say one thing, and the best thing it can say is "call me, I'll sort it".

→The short answer
A good handyman logo says one clear thing, reliable help around the house, instead of trying to show every job you do. It works on a van, a tool bag and a fridge magnet, and looks professional on an invoice to a letting agent. Ours start at £199, and you see it on your van and paperwork before you pay.

(02)One clear idea
One logo for a business that does a hundred jobs
The temptation is to fit everything in: a hammer, a paintbrush, a spanner, a tap and a plug. At van size it becomes a smudge, and it tells a customer you do everything without telling them you do anything well.
A handyman logo works best when it carries one idea, such as a toolbox, a house or simply a strong name, and leaves the list of jobs to a line underneath or the side of the van. The list can change as your work changes; the logo shouldn't have to.
What goes where
- The logo: your name and at most one symbol.
- One line under it: "Home repairs and odd jobs", "Property maintenance for landlords".
- On the van and the leaflet: the five or six jobs you most want, in plain words.
- On the website: every service, each with its own short section.
(03)Locksmiths
The badge customers look for, and the rules around it.
Locksmiths and the MLA logo
The Master Locksmiths Association's logo is one of the few trust marks customers actively look for when they're locked out. Its Approved Company logo is for firms that have passed the association's inspection, and there's a separate logo for individual Qualified Master Locksmiths. The MLA warns that locksmiths showing its logo without approval are a regular problem, and points customers to its own list to check1. Showing a trust mark you're not entitled to is also banned under UK consumer law2.
If you're approved, the MLA's own artwork goes beside your logo on the van and the website. If you're not, don't use "Master" in a way that borrows its standing: anyone can call themselves a master locksmith, which is exactly why customers check the list1.
(04)Where it lives
Where a handyman's logo has to work
The fridge magnet
Handymen win most of their work from people who've used them before. A magnet with your logo and number, left on the fridge after every job, is the cheapest repeat-business tool there is.
The van
Often a small van parked on residential streets. The logo, one line on what you do and the number, large.
Quotes and invoices
For landlords and agents, these are the proof you're a proper business. A one-colour logo at the top, your details at the bottom, nothing fussy.
Job reports with photos
Maintenance firms send before-and-after photos to agents. The logo in the corner of each report keeps your name in front of the person who books the next job.

Questions
(07)Questions
Your business name and, at most, one simple symbol such as a toolbox or a house. Keep the list of jobs out of the logo and put it underneath or on the side of the van, where it can change as your work does.
Only if the Master Locksmiths Association has approved your company, or you're individually qualified for its personal logo, and only with the artwork it provides. If you're not approved, leave it off entirely.
Usually. Maintenance firms sell to landlords, agents and businesses, who want to see an organised company; a local handyman sells to homeowners, who want someone friendly and reliable. We design for the customers you're chasing.
