Hair and beauty salon logo design

A salon's logo is on the gift voucher someone gives at Christmas, the aftercare card that goes home in a handbag and the booking app a client opens at midnight.

The short answer

A good salon logo suits your treatments and your clients, looks beautiful on a gift voucher, and still reads as the small circle on a booking app. Hair, nails, beauty and spas each need a different feel. Ours start at £199, and you see the logo on your window, vouchers and booking profile before you pay.

(02)The right feel

Hair, nails, beauty and spa need different logos

What each kind of salon's logo usually needs to say
BusinessClients are buyingWhat usually works
Hair salonA look, and a stylist they trustA confident wordmark or monogram; the name matters most
Nail salonColour, detail and a treatBrighter colours, a playful symbol, strong on Instagram
Beauty and aestheticsResults, hygiene and expertiseClean type, calm colours and lots of space
SpaTime out and calmSoft colours, a natural symbol, a version for linen and robes
Mobile and home-basedConvenience and a person they likeYour own name, set well, with a simple mark

(03)Where it lives

Where a salon logo has to work

Gift vouchers

Often a salon's biggest seller at Christmas and on Mother's Day, and given to people who've never been in. The logo has to look like a present.

Booking apps and Google

Your logo is cropped into a small circle beside your reviews. A monogram or symbol reads there; a long script name doesn't.

Appointment and aftercare cards

Small, printed in one or two colours, and kept in purses for weeks. They need a compact version of the logo with your number.

Retail bags and product labels

If you sell products, a sticker or stamp on a plain bag is enough, in one colour.

Tunics and towels

Embroidered on dark or white fabric, so a simplified version for thread is part of the job.

(04)Your name or a brand?

Trading under your own name, or a brand name

Many stylists, nail technicians and therapists trade under their own name, and clients book them because of it. It's a good choice while the business is you. It gets harder if you take on staff, open a second room, want to take a long break, or one day sell the business: clients will still ask for you.

A brand name, like a place, an idea or a word that suits your style, can grow without you in every appointment. A middle way is a brand name with your name underneath, such as "Halo Hair Studio, by Sam", which we can design so the second line can be dropped later without changing the logo.

(05)State registration

Registered hairdressers and barbers

The Hairdressers (Registration) Act 1964 set up a council to keep a register of qualified hairdressers1. Joining it is voluntary, and the Hair and Barber Council has long campaigned to make it compulsory2. If you or your team are registered, it's worth saying so beside your logo and on your website, in the council's own words, as a sign of training clients can check.

Questions

(08)Questions

Script can look beautiful on a window and a voucher, but it often becomes unreadable as a small circle on a booking app. If you love script, we pair it with a simple monogram for the small places.
