Barber logo design
Barbers have the strongest visual tradition of any trade: the pole, the razor, the badge. The trick is using it so your shop looks like your shop, not every other one.

→The short answer
A good barber logo suits the cuts you do and the customers you want, reads on the shop window from across the street, and works small as a watermark on your Instagram fades. Ours start at £199, and you see the logo on your window, cape and posts before you pay anything.

Barber and barbershop logo ideas

Concept Kingsway BarbersBarbershop
The name split over two lines in tall capitals, like the lettering painted on an old shop fascia.

Concept Pole & BladeTraditional barber
A barber's pole drawn in a few strokes beside a serif name: classic, but simple enough for a window decal.

Concept The Gentry BarbersGentlemen's grooming
A razor in a shield, gold on black, for a shop that sells hot towel shaves as much as haircuts.

Concept Fade FactoryFade and skin fade specialist
A comb in a purple disc with a pink accent: modern, loud and built for an Instagram grid.

Concept Oldtown BarbershopBarbershop
A round badge with initials, made to be printed on a coffee-cup sleeve, a loyalty card and a T-shirt.

Concept Sharp LinesBarber studio
Scissors over a rounded name, clean enough for a small studio's mirror decal and price list.

Concept Marlow'sGentlemen's barber
A single surname as a serif wordmark with a gold full stop: the old idea that the barber's name is the brand.

Concept Clipper ClubFamily and kids' barber
A friendly rounded monogram in teal and yellow, for a shop where dads and sons sit side by side.
(02)The pole
Use the tradition, don't hide behind it.
What the barber's pole means, and how to use it
The red-and-white striped pole goes back to the barber-surgeons, who let blood as well as cutting hair. The red stood for blood and the white for the bandages, which were hung out to dry and twisted round the pole in the wind1. Blue was added later, most often in America2.
It's a symbol every customer recognises, which is both its strength and its problem: half the barbers on any high street use it. If you want it, we draw it so it's yours: a few strokes rather than a clip-art cylinder, in your colours rather than the standard three.
(03)Where it lives
Most of a barber's marketing happens in the shop and on a phone.
Where a barber logo has to work
The window and fascia
Vinyl lettering read from across the street and from passing buses. A short name, large, with the logo beside it rather than squeezed above it.
The mirror
A small decal on each station's mirror ends up in the background of customers' photos of their new cut, so it needs to look sharp at a small size.
Capes and aprons
Printed or embroidered on black nylon, so a white or light version of the logo is essential.
Your before-and-afters are your portfolio. A small mark in the corner of each photo means the cut is credited when it's shared.
Booking apps
Your profile picture on a booking app or Google is a small circle. A monogram or a single symbol reads there; a long name doesn't.
(04)Classic or modern
Choosing a style that suits your chair
| Style | Looks like | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Heritage | Badges, serif type, poles and razors, deep red and gold | Traditional cuts and shaves, an older or mixed clientele |
| Modern | Bold sans serif, one strong colour, minimal symbols | Fades, designs and a younger crowd who book on their phones |
| Premium | A surname wordmark, black and gold, lots of space | Grooming, hot towel shaves and higher prices |
| Family | Rounded type, brighter colours, a friendly monogram | Kids' cuts, walk-ins and a neighbourhood shop |

Questions

No. The pole tells people you're a barber, but so does your window. Many of the best barber logos are a strong name or monogram that customers remember. If you want a pole, we draw one that's yours rather than clip art.
We design versions for both: a light version for printing on black capes, and a small decal for the mirrors that looks sharp in customers' photos. You approve how they look before you order them.
Whatever suits your shop and your street. Classic red, navy and gold say "traditional"; black with one bright colour says "modern". We check what the barbers nearest you use, so you don't end up looking like them.
