Rebranding and brand refresh
A new look shouldn't cost you the recognition you've built. We help you decide between a refresh and a full rebrand, design it, and plan the switch so customers come with you.

→The short answer
A brand refresh updates how your existing brand looks, keeping its name and character; a rebrand changes more, sometimes including the name. Most small businesses need a refresh. Either way, we design the new look first, you see it on your van, website and profiles, and you pay once you've approved it, from £199.
(01)Refresh or rebrand?
Which one do you need?
| If… | You probably need | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The logo looks dated but people know it | A refresh | Redraw and simplify; keep the colour and shape customers recognise |
| It doesn't work small, on a phone or embroidered | A refresh | The idea is fine; the drawing needs fixing |
| You've changed what you do, or who you serve | A rebrand | The old brand tells the wrong story |
| Your name is confused with another business | A rebrand, possibly with a new name | Recognition is going to someone else |
| You've merged with or bought another business | A rebrand | Customers need one name and one look |
| You simply fancy a change | Probably neither, yet | Your customers aren't bored of it; you are |
(02)Keeping recognition
Keeping what customers already recognise
Find the memorable part
Usually one thing: a colour, a shape, a word. Ask a few regular customers what they remember about your logo and keep that.
Change one big thing at a time
A new colour with a familiar shape, or a cleaner shape in a familiar colour, carries recognition across. Changing everything at once starts from scratch.
Keep your name, if you can
Your name carries your reviews, your search rankings and your word of mouth. Change it only for a real reason.
Keep your web addresses
If the website changes too, every old address should lead to the right new page, or the searches you rank for go with the old site. See website redesign.
(03)The rollout
In this order: the cheap, fast, high-visibility places first.
Rebrand rollout checklist
(04)Costs beyond design
Budget for these before you start.
What a rebrand costs beyond the design
- Re-lettering or re-wrapping vehicles
- New shop signs and site boards
- Reprinting cards, leaflets and stationery
- New uniforms and workwear
- Packaging and labels, for product businesses
- Trade mark registration for a new name or logo
- Updating listings on paid directories
Our design prices are fixed and published; these costs depend on your suppliers. A phased rollout, replacing printed items as they run out, spreads them over time. The Full brand package includes the artwork your suppliers need for vans, signs and uniforms.

(05)Telling customers
How to tell customers about your new look
- Keep it short. "Same team, new look" is often enough. Customers care that you still do what they hired you for.
- Say what's the same. The people, the phone number, the service.
- If the name changed, say both for a while. "Smith Roofing, formerly Smith & Sons" on your Google profile and website for some months helps people searching for the old name.
- Post it everywhere on the same day: Google, social media, WhatsApp status, and an email to regular customers.
- Show the van. A photo of the newly lettered van is the post people remember.
Questions
(06)Questions
Our design packages are £199, £349 or £499. The bigger costs are usually outside design: vehicle lettering, signs, uniforms and printing, which depend on your suppliers and can be phased.
A new logo and colours won't. A new name or a new website can, if your Google profile, listings and web addresses aren't updated carefully. We handle the website side so old addresses keep working.
Yes. We design it and show it on your van, shirts, website and profiles first. You pay only once you've given it the nod.
